PUBLIC SPEAKING MODULE SUMMARY
Public speaking was the first module I did in fourth year … To be honest I was not very excited about this module because I hate speaking in front of people. Mr wall was our teacher and he taught us the various techniques to creating and delivering a speech. The aim of this module was to become more confident speaking in big groups. We took two classes and week for six weeks and at the end of the six weeks we had an exam with an examiner. I decided to write my speech on mental health (mentality) .
I focused my speech around sports mental health and why so many girls around the ages of 15-17 are dropping out of school school. I picked this topic because I am really interested in sport and I wanted to know myself why so many girls were dropping out and quitting their sport.
The lead up to the exam was very nerve wrecking. I had been practising twenty four seven. I remember clearly waiting outside the boardroom my heart was beating so fast as the person ahead of me came out from their exam. My speech went super ! I didn't think I would do as well as I did! When my 4 minute speech was over I sat down beside the examiner for some questions. The examiner loved my speech and I was so happy that my hardworking had paid off.
Public speaking was a great success and I really benefited from it. This was a great module to have in TY because I feel when 5th year comes around I will be prepared to attack any creative speech writing and performing excercises that the teacher may set me.
