GAISCE - PRESIDENT’S BRONZE AWARD
COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT ACTIVITY : YSI (young social innovators
For my Community involvement activity I chose YSI (Young social innovators). Every Friday from 9 to 10 we had a class to discuss our project, this year which was homelessness.
We got various speakers in such as Peter Mac very, Tiglin and St Vincent to Paul. As a team of 25 we tried our best to create a project that would provide homeless people with the basic needs that they should have. Young social innovators was a great way for me as a person to work on communication skills and being part of a team.
I have never done something like this before and I am glad now in fourth year I was able to do it. As a result of YSI we got to participate in the Dun Laoghaire speak out. We also distributed dignity bags and loaded them on the No Bucks truck. I loved YSI so much and I would love to carry it on in fifth year but unfortunately that is not an option.

PERSONAL SKILL: POTTERY
For my new skill I chose pottery. Pottery was a great opportunity to have on Wednesday from 5 to 6:30. I loved having the freedom to create what ever I wanted.
I have never done pottery before so it was a great experience to do it for Gaisce. Pottery was new to me so I had to start from the beginning and go through the basics. I created many pieces that took time and work to finish. My favourite piece is the doughnut that I glazed. Gaisce was a great opportunity for me to take on pottery and I really did learn a lot.
PHYSICAL RECREATION: SYNERGISE GYM
For physical recreation I chose gym. I did Gym outside of school in a place called synergise. It was based in Dundrum and my mum and I got up at 5:45 for a class to begin at six. The classes were half an hour and really quick.
They were supervised classes and over the weeks of doing it I became part of a gym family. I did it three days a week for 26 weeks. I will hopefully continue this gym after Gaisce. It was a great experience and I will always remember it especially the early morning workouts!
