BRAY LAKERS WORK EXPERIENCE
For community service for 4th year I organised to go to bray lakers. In school I sometimes see the lakers football team use our football pitch so I decided to go down and enquire about a place. I did this week of work experience with Jennifer, Cillian and Jack. We were given a time table of what activities we could participate in. The range of activities they do is incredible.
On the first day I went with John in the laker bus it help him pick up people from the day centres around bray. It was great introducing myself to everyone and we chatted on the bus about the 6 Nations as they were all interested in it. After lunch we did cooking and we made a full meal with dessert. They loved having the four of us there because they enjoy seeing new faces and introducing themselves.
I also got to participate in BOCCE which is a sport they play at lakers and the Paralympic coach was there helping them. They were all so friendly and nice and just wanted to chat about their day and what they do in life. Unfortunately we did not get to finish our week with Bray lakers due to the bad weather conditions. There were so many more activities that I would have loved to engagement such as Skiing, golf, gym, pottery and athletics. They had to close the lakers building due to bad ice which would be a hazard for everybody. Hopefully I will be able to go another full week to help and meet some more people.
