CPL RECRUITMENT WORK EXPERIENCE
At the start of the year I filled out an application for a chance to be part of a TY week in a really good recruitment agency called CPL. After applying I got no response from anybody until January. I got a call to say I was put forward with 7 people to be part of this work experience. I was so thrilled and could not wait. Unfortunately I had to give up my part for the musical for this but in the end everything worked out well.
To be honest it was a very tuff week and it was only an experience of what a real job will be like in the future. I had to wake up at 6:30 and get a lift to the dart in shakil where I got the 7:00 dart. I was on my own and the only person I had was google maps to help me! I got off at grand canal dock we’re my work experience placement was on and walked to the building. I had never been to that part of town before so it was all very new. After the first day I knew my way around.
When I got there I was put in a room with 7 other people who I did not know but slowly we got chatting and we all became friends during the week. I was given a special pack by CPL including their transition year programme timetable , a key card to get into rooms and the office and lots of information about them. It was their first ever TY programme so they wanted feed back from us. Speakers came into us and gave us a talk about the life in a recruitment agency we also got talks on digital footprints, personality profiles, interview skills , creating your 1st CV, leadership skills, personal Eirquest , IT career, and a final speech by the head of the office on following your dreams.
It was such a busy week but it was one of the best work experiences I have ever done. I was so intrigued in all the speeches and never once zoned out because I was afraid I would miss something. The speakers were so helpful and really easy to listen to and relate to. We were also split in teams to complete a project during our time there and we presented it on the last day given all the tools they had taught us on how to make and give a presentation.
I gained so many new skills and insights towards recruitment agency’s. It was not what I expected at all. I now has so many skills I can bring into my fourth year work such as leadership skills and presentation skills. I also felt really proud of myself because I was the one who organised the work experience and getting transport there. I really felt older than I actually was that week!
