JUNIOR SCHOOL WORK EXPERIENCE
My first week of work experience was fantastic! I worked in my old primary school . It was great seeing all my old teachers but weird at the same time. I got to sit in the staff room with teacher which was the weirdest part of all. On my first day Monday morning I was told that I would be in second class for the day. This was the class my sister was in and it was great to see her work in class. I loved this class especially as Mrs Byrne their teacher got me so involved. We sang songs and danced as a class and any work the kids needed help with I helped.
On Tuesday I was so excited to get out of bed and see what the junior school had to bring for me. I went on a bus to mount Anville with the Hockey coach’s and I was in charge of 5th class hockey tournament. We won and it was a great results to get. The following days of the week brought even more excitement as I watched Montessori do their Christmas play for me, did art with 4th class, did gardening with 5th class and even doing a full Irish lesson by myself for the senior infants which was so much fun.
I got to know all the children in the school and even the teachers better than I have ever before. I totally loved the environment I was working in and loved how close a community they all were together. To say that it was hard work would be an understatement but I loved it anyway. I learnt so many knew techniques on how to teach children at different ages and different levels. This work experience placement has definitely given me ideas about teaching in the future and I would considerate one of my top options for college.
