ENNISKERRY MONTESSORI AND AFTER SCHOOL CARE WORK EXPERIENCE
As extra TY work and to further my experience in childcare I went to Enniskerry Montessori and after School Care for one week. I enjoyed my St Gerards Junior school experience and the Montessori enviroment was different again due to the younger age ranges of between 2.5 and 4years.
The week showed me the methods of how children learn through practical live, censorial, maths and cultural activities. Each day was very different to ensure all children wereengaged and excited to learn. The Aistear and Siolta teaching quality framework for early childhood education in also incorporated into the Montessori school program.
Enniskerry Montessori & After school is not a day care crèche, it is a sessional school which offers education and fun club for pre school and primary school children from ages 2 and a half to 9 years. They offer the highest standards of care and encourage all children to explore and experiment, interact and most importantly become involved and have fun with teachers and class friends.
I loved being able to interact directly with the children, having one on one time with them and listening to their stories around their weekend excitements! I never once got bored as their was always something to be done or someone who needed help and assistance. One of the things I learnt that I will never forget is always bend down to talk to a child and don’t tower over them, come down to their level.
